Get all the up to date information here – Gold Rush Sled Dog Mail Run

The Gold Rush Trail Dog Sled Mail Run is living history over a 4-day annual event. For the past 28 years, on the fourth weekend of January, dog teams and dedicated mushers from near and far, who have been sworn in as official mail carriers have carried Canada Post mail in their dog sleds over the Gold Rush Trail to Barkerville. Special Mail Run envelopes are designed each year with artwork by local artists, printed and sold from this website, or at local outlets, stamped “Carried by Dog Team” and hand cancelled by volunteers in Quesnel, Wells, and Barkerville, the three post offices along the route. Once delivered to Barkerville, this mail enters the regular mail system for delivery anywhere in the world. We welcome volunteers to take part in this fun event, and we encourage skiers, skijorers, and others to participate in this run. Gourmet Ski

Saturday February 17, 2024

The Gourmet Ski is an annual fund-raising event hosted by volunteers and members of the Wells and Area Trails Society. Participants cross-country ski around the Wells meadow and the rolling hills of the Cornish Mountain trail network, whilst enjoying international cuisine served at various pit stops along the way. The event is non-competitive, and we encourage people to ski the various routes in no particular order.

In an attempt to keep the event "green" we provide wooden plates and cutlery for participants to use during the afternoon. Please bring along your own water bottle and/or insulated cup to ensure you keep hydrated.

In the evening, selections from the International Mountain Film Festival will be shown, starting at 7 pm at the Sunset Theatre, on Pooley Street in Wells.
Registration opens January 8 and it generally sells out so get your registration in early!!
